RTA: Favorite artist(s) (not yourself)?

Shallowpoint: Oh man, too many to name!  Queen, Rammstein, Megadeth, Shinedown—Heather

RTA: What was the story in forming the band? 

Shallowpoint: We started out as friends and family playing cover tunes, eventually wrote our own music and went to professionally record our first album. Things took off from there! As long as people like our music, we will keep on keeping on!

RTA: What is the inspiration in your music?

Shallowpoint: So many inspirations, other bands, movies, real life events.

RTA: Favorite movie(s)?

Shallowpoint: Joe Dirt is my particular favorite! lol – Heather

RTA: Last album/EP/single release?

Shallowpoint: Our last EP was released right before the pandemic. We are working diligently on new music, expected out sometime before the end of the year!

RTA: Any upcoming music releases? When?

Shallowpoint: Not yet, but it’s coming, many songs currently being written.

RTA: What is a venue you always wanted to perform in? Why?

Shallowpoint: Anywhere on the sunset strip! Most of our early favorite artists started out in these iconic venues.

RTA: What artist(s) would you want to tour with, big or small?

Shallowpoint: Rammstein or Breaking Benjamin, go big or go home lol- H

RTA: Dogs or cats?

Shallowpoint: Dogs/ but I’m a dog groomer lol

RTA: One story you’d like to share about the band?

Shallowpoint: There are sooo many stories, but probably the most memorable was a nightmare trip to a festival in Ohio, our RV tore up on the way, stung by 3 wasps, drummer left his cymbals at the venue. You name it, it went wrong, but we will never forget that trip lol

RTA: What is the song of yours that means the most to you?

Shallowpoint: Each band member would answer this one differently, but my personal favorite has always been Self Inflicted.

RTA: What would be some advice you’d want to tell startup artists just entering the music industry?

Shallowpoint: My biggest advice would be to first and foremost love doing this with all of your heart, and love people. There’s not much left in it to be honest.

RTA: What was your most memorable performance?

Shallowpoint: My personal most favorite performance was with Hellyeah, I crawled over Vinnie Paul’s drumset to get onto the stage when we played, his drum tech still remembers me to this day! lol  Also Chad Gray banging his head while we played upstairs, I will never ever forget that lol

RTA: How fun is it to film music videos?

Shallowpoint: We produce, film, and edit our own music vids. I must say that to us, that is as fun as making the music itself!  you can really put your ideas into the video of the meaning of the song, and it’s just so much fun!

RTA: We so appreciate your joining our, “U Rock Week” and sharing a little about the band. By now your gig with Hinder has come and gone, we’d love to hear about how that went. I really thought you were going to say your drummer blew up on stage, but a nightmare road trip is one for the books too. Congrats on signing with RFL Records, I hope this means you’ll be heading our way soon for some shows? (Fingers crossed) I’ve been a long-time fan of your music, and I genuinely am excited for what’s to come for you. As they say, “If you’re having a good time rockin’ out to some great music, it’s Shallowpoint’s fault.” 😉
